In an evaporator comprising a bridge section for allowing condensed water to flow down at the leeward end of a flat tube through which refrigerant passes, and corrugated fins sandwiched between the main bodies of the flat tube, the leeward end of the fins The central portion of the flat tube is projected to the leeward side of the flat tube main body portion to an extent that does not protrude beyond the end portion of the flat tube, and this protruding portion is used to reduce the resistance of the wind flowing through the evaporator and create a negative pressure in the bridge portion. The evaporator is formed by cutting off the leeward edge of the flat tube main body so as to make it grow.
