PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which detects easily and surely a defective cutting part by providing a means for passing a detecting lever in a cutting gap with a delay by a prescribed distance from a cutting torch. CONSTITUTION:A motor 6 is run to lower a base plate 5 until the projecting piece 13 of the plate 5 actuates a microswitch 12 for a lower limit stop so that a detecting lever 4 can pass the inside of a cutting gap l in the stage of cutting a billet 15. The cutting is started and when the lever 4 passing the inside of the cutting gap by tracing a cutting torch 1 comes into contact with a defective cutting part 16, the lever 4 rocks in the direction of an arrow A and the projecting piece 4a of the lever 4 pushes a microswitch 8. The vibration of the lever 4 during detection is prevented by a stopper 9.
