For hydraulic excavators that have a box-shaped cross-section with upper and lower flanges and left and right webs, and have first and second bulkheads on the base end and the tip of the boom, sandwiching a center housing part inside the middle part in the longitudinal direction. In the boom, the lower flange is configured by fixing three sections, which are formed separately from each other, to the left and right webs: an intermediate section facing the center housing section, a section on the base end of the boom, and a section on the front end of the boom. The first bulkhead is welded to the boom proximal section of the lower flange, and the second bulkhead is welded to the boom tip section on one side, and between the first and second bulkheads and the center boss.
