Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a rubber compsn. suitable for toothed belts, etc., and excellent in heat resistance and adhesion to rubber-reinforced fiber, by compounding a chloroprene rubber with a vulcanizer, a vulcanizing accelerator, and an org. polysulfide compd. CONSTITUTION:A chloroprene rubber is mixed with ZnO, MgO as a vulcanizer, 2-mercaptoimidazoline, etc. as a vulcanizing accelerator, and, in addn., an org. polysulfide compd. to yield the intended rubber compounding compsn. The best addn. of the org. polysulfide compd. is about 0.5-3pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. rubber. Org. polysulfide compds. include dipentamethylenethiuram tetrasulfide and 4,4'-dithiobisdimorpholine. Toothed belts using the resulting rubber are provided with improved adhesion of backing rubber 1 and toothed rubber 3 to core 2.
