Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent creases of a paper caused by the deformation of a rubber layer, by setting contact areas of press plates, which press both end faces of the rubber layer, to 40-60% of the overall area of end faces of the rubber layer. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical rubber layer 6 is provided around a core bar 5 of a pressure roll 1. Press plates 2 press-fixed to end faces of the rubber layer 6 are detained on both ends of the core bar 5 by detaining rings 3, and a contact area S between press plates 2 and the rubber layer 6 is set to 40-60% of the overall area of end faces of the rubber layer 6.
