Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate protrusion and recess of a described line as much as possible and obtain a high printing quality by a method wherein the tip of the printing wire for the wire dot printer is made into a non-round shape and the printing is effected while rotating the wire. CONSTITUTION:The tip of the printing wire is made into the non-round shape such as rectangular shape, ellipse or the like and the wire is rendered to be rotatable. For this purpose, a magnet 7 is burried into an abutting piece 5 and an exciting coil 6 is provided to constitute a step motor. Upon printing, the wire is rotated by the step motor by a desired angle and is impacted by a pole contacting piece 4. If the wires 1 are provided in dividing into two rows, the connection between the dots in an oblique direction may be improved.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a print head for a wire printer in which the tip of the print wire is made non-round and the wire is rotated in order to improve print quality.

Characters printed using a conventional round printing wire always have uneven lines due to their shape, as shown in No. 1W, which impairs printing quality. In order to compensate for this drawback, attempts have been made to increase the number of dots and reduce the size of the irregularities themselves. However, with this method, the structure of the head becomes complicated, and in principle it is impossible to completely eliminate unevenness. Therefore, in order to improve printing quality with the same number of dots, instead of using round wires, it is necessary to use square or other shaped wires. It is possible to use a wire. However, in this case as well, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, unevenness may occur in curved portions and diagonally lined portions, resulting in uneven line widths depending on the direction of the line.

An object of the present invention is to minimize the unevenness of lines drawn by a dot matrix and to obtain higher print quality with the same number of dots.

Since the tip 2 of the wire protrudes into the guide plate 3, the wire rotates smoothly with respect to the guide plate 5.

When this rectangular wire is used, the line width becomes thicker, but the vertical and horizontal straight lines are theoretically not uneven, and the shape remains the same even when rotated 90 degrees, so there is no need to set the rotation angle.

The mechanism for rotating the wire according to the present invention is shown in the 10th WJ,
A magnet 7 is embedded in an abutment lever 5, and together with an excitation coil 6, a step motor is constructed. When printing, a desired rotation angle is set using the step motor, and the armature 4 is used to strike the image.

As described above, the present invention is particularly effective compared to the conventional method even for zero curves and diagonal lines where vertical and horizontal lines have no unevenness in principle, and smooth printing with less unevenness is possible. This characteristic of Samurai is noticeable when expressing large characters with a number of dots, and discontinuities and irregularities in diagonal lines can be considerably suppressed.

Further, even when a character is composed of a large number of dots, by using this method, it is possible to obtain a print quality higher than that conventionally obtained with the same number of dots.
