Abstract

PURPOSE:To open the mud fitting of a tap hole effectively in short time by a method in which a central hole and a ring like hole are formed on the mud fitting for the tap hole of a blast furnace, and a breaker is pressed on the mud fitting. CONSTITUTION:The tool holder of a tapping machine 5 is composed of a rod like protrusion 7a and an arm 76 surrounding said protrusion which are provided with blades 4, 12 respectively by way of bits 7c. A central hole 16a and a ring like hole 16b surrounding the hole 16a are cut-formed in the central part of the refractory mud fitting on the tap hole 3 of a blast furnace by the tapping machine 5. Then the mud gun body 8 provided with a dividing breaker 11 in the tip nozzle 9 is pressed on the mud fitting surface of the tap hole 3, and the mud fitting is separately broken by using the hole 16a and 16b. The operating time for breaking is reduced and the safety for operation is increased by this process.
