Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform optimum welding with a welding machine of relatively small capacity in the stage of flash butt welding of band steel by butting the band steel at decreased sectional areas of weld zones so that desired current density and pressing force are achieved. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of flash butt welding of band steel 1, 1' to each other, and when the sectional areas of the band steel 1, 1' exceed the capacity of a welding machine, parts 2, 2' in the butt parts of the hoops 1, 1' are removed so that the band steel can be welded by desired current density and pressing force. Thus equipment capacity is decreased and electric power consumption is economized.

In order to continuously pass hot rolled steel strips through a pickling annealing line, we temporarily weld them together. A certain current density and pressing pressure are required for the welding. For this reason, in conventional annealing and pickling lines for steel strips, welding requires a certain amount of current density and pressing pressure. The capacity of the welding machine has been selected according to the maximum cross-sectional area of the plate and incorporated into production equipment. However, in reality, plates with the largest cross-sectional area are rarely threaded continuously, and the welding machine equipment The investment effect was low in terms of cost. Also, even if the entire cross section was welded, there was no manufacturing process that required such welding strength, and the strength was excessive.

In order to eliminate these drawbacks, the method of the present invention determines the ability of a welding machine by the minimum required welding strength during the manufacturing process of the line, and improves the ability to weld plates with large cross-sectional areas. , determined by the minimum welding strength required during the manufacturing process of that line.

To address the lack of ability when welding plates with large cross-sectional areas,
By reducing the cross-sectional area and keeping the current density and pressing pressure within the capabilities of the welding machine, it is possible to avoid over-equipment.

That is, according to the present invention, when flash butt welding steel strips, the cross-sectional area of the welded portion is reduced to such an extent that the desired current density and pressing pressure are achieved by the installed welding machine, and then the butts are brought together. A flash butt welding method for steel strip is provided.

If the area of the butt cross section is within the capability of the welding machine employed, there is no need to separately reduce the cross section of the welded portion as in this embodiment. That is, this embodiment is similar to the conventional working method and is a comparative example for the method of the present invention.

FIG. 2 shows one embodiment of the present invention, and shows (a), (b), and
C) indicates the parts corresponding to (A), (B), and (C) in FIG. 1, respectively. In this case, the thickness of the plates to be butted is thick and the cross-sectional area of the butting surfaces exceeds the capacity of the welding machine, so the edge of the butting part of one drawing board is removed by an appropriate means such as gas cutting or knife cutting. to reduce the area.

第3図も、また本発明の別の実施態様である。FIG. 3 is also another embodiment of the invention.

(A) is a plan view of the abutting portion, and (B) is a side view. As is clear from the figure, in this embodiment one plate to be welded has the same width as the other plate, without any particular reduction in the width of the plate.

Although the thickness could be reduced, this is not operationally practical. Furthermore, although FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of the present invention in which the plates to be butted are thick and the cross-sectional area of the butted surfaces exceeds the welding capacity, conversely, even if the plates are thin, The width of the plate is wide, and the butt surface may exceed the welding capacity. In this case as well, the content shown in FIG. 2 may be used.

Since flash butt welding itself is a well-known technique, there is no need to explain it. The copper strips welded and joined in this way are continuously pickled and annealed, and then separated at the welds according to the membership fee and sent to the next process.

According to the method of the present invention, by installing a relatively small-capacity welding machine, it is possible to reduce the equipment capacity and handle strip steel with a large cross-sectional area, which is handled relatively rarely. This has the great advantage of saving power consumption.
