Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain external parts for a watch having superior corrosion resistance and presenting the fine appearance of stripe by striped on plating formed on a metallic surface and forming gold plating, gold alloy plating or white plating on the scored plating. CONSTITUTION:Plating of Ni, Ni-Pd or the like is formed on press-molded external parts for a watch, and the plating is striped, Golden finish-plating of gold or a gold alloy or a white finish-plating of Pd or a pd alloy is then formed on the striped plating. Since the base has a mirror surface, the under-plating has high covering power and pinholes, etc. are hardly produced as compared to conventional external parts for a watch obtd. by forming plating on the scored base. Accordingly, external parts for a watch with extremely superior corrosion resistance are obtd.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an exterior part for a timepiece that has improved corrosion resistance on a striated surface.

Conventional exterior parts with a striped finish are constructed by applying base plating on a striped metal material such as copper, brass, or nickel silver copper, and then performing a plating process such as finish plating.

その製造法の一例を第1図により詳細に説明する。An example of the manufacturing method will be explained in detail with reference to FIG.

The manufacturing method is to perform processing such as forging, press molding, and cutting on a brass material 1, and to form the case into a watch case in advance. After applying a line pattern to the surface of the case, which has been molded to the zero order, a nickel film is applied to the watch case. Next, after activating the above nickel film, coat it with a gold-silver (12 to 16 currant) film 3 of about 3 microns, and then coat it with a gold-nickel (about 22 karat) film 4 of about 2 microns. Then, a striped watch case is manufactured.

In this case, if the plating coverage of each part of the line was poor, pinholes etc. would occur, from which corrosion would occur, resulting in inferior corrosion resistance compared to a mirror finish. Furthermore, if the thickness of the plating film is increased in order to improve corrosion resistance, there is a drawback that the original beauty of the streaks is lost.

Therefore, the present inventor has developed a watch in view of the above-mentioned drawbacks, and as a result, it is an object of the present inventor to provide a new exterior part for a watch that has excellent corrosion resistance and takes advantage of the aesthetic appearance of the streaks.

By applying a finishing plating such as chrome, we succeeded in obtaining a watch exterior part with a streaky finish that has excellent corrosion resistance. Compared to conventional watch exterior parts in which the fabric is lined and plated, in the case of the present invention, the fabric has a mirror surface, so the coverage of the base plating is good and there are almost no pinholes or the like. Therefore, the corrosion resistance is very good.

以下、実施例により本発明を説明する。The present invention will be explained below with reference to Examples.

Example 2: German silver fabric 5 molded into a watch bezel as shown in Figure 3
A nickel-phosphorus film 6 of about 5 to 10 microns is coated on the surface of the film, and a line pattern is applied to the film. Furthermore, after activating the nickel-phosphorous film, 2 to 3 layers of palladium nickel film 7 are added.
An exterior part for a watch with a streaky finish was obtained by applying a coating of about 40%.

As described above, according to the present invention, compared to conventional streak-finished watch exterior parts, pinholes and the like are hardly observed, and therefore corrosion resistance is improved and the original beauty of the streaks can be maintained. Furthermore, since there is almost no change in the process, there are advantages such as the fact that the equipment used in the past can be used as is.

In addition, according to the present invention, other metal materials may be used instead of brass and nickel silver, and nickel, nickel-cobalt, copper-tin, etc. may be used instead of nickel, nickel-phosphorus, etc., instead of those described in the embodiments. It is also possible to use gold, palladium, rhodium, platinum, chromium, or other plating instead of the alloy or palladium-nickel film.
