PURPOSE:To secure uniform surface pressure of a flange by providing tapered parts around the outer peripheries of coupling flanges of an exhaust manifold and a catalyst converter, and clamping and coupling both tapered parts by means of taper metal fittings engaged with the tapered parts. CONSTITUTION:To the flange of the lower end of an exhaust manifold 1, the upper flange of a casing of the catalyst converter accommodating therein a catalyst 8 is coupled.
