According to the above-mentioned conventional pipe joint, at the connection site, the push ring d and the like are inserted into the pipe P and incorporated in the joint body a, and the three axial bolts e and the tangential bolt g are provided. Therefore, it is necessary to tighten the four bolts, which results in a large amount of work at the connection site. Moreover, since this pipe joint is usually made of casting, it is heavy by itself, and when connecting work with a relatively large diameter (approximately 4 inches or more), a considerable amount of weight including pipes will be handled.
There has been a problem that the burden on the worker is enormous.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a pipe joint that reduces the amount of connection work and the work load on site.

The above-mentioned pipe joint is preassembled by the fastening band, with the packing mounted over the pipe receiving portion of the joint body and the outer periphery thereof. At this time, the tongue portion of the packing is mounted along the inner wall, the leg portion extends along the inner wall of the pipe receiving portion, and the arm portion is in close contact with the outer periphery of the pipe receiving portion up to the protruding portion. The fastening band surrounds the outer periphery of the packing including the body portion, and the fastening portion is tightened to some extent. However, in this temporarily tightened state, the inner diameter of the packing is still larger than the outer diameter of the pipe to be connected, and the pipe can be inserted smoothly. Further, since one flange of the fastening band is engaged with the inside of the protrusion of the main body, the packing and the fastening band do not fall off from the joint body.

Thereafter, at the connection site, when the pipe is inserted into the pipe receiving portion of the joint body and the opposite fastening portions are tightened, one fastening portion is tightened and the band contracts in the radial direction, so that the packing is also compressed. Then, the packing body strongly presses the outer circumference of the pipe to hermetically seal between them and hold the pipe. On the other hand, since the packing arm is also compressed in the same manner, it is strongly pressure-bonded to the outer circumference of the pipe receiving part to hermetically seal the space therebetween. Further, the tip of the tube is in contact with the tongue of the packing, and absorbs thermal expansion of the tube, and at the same time, the tongue, the leg and the packing body absorb vibrations and noises transmitted to the tube. As described above, the pipe and the pipe joint are connected so as to prevent axial movement of the pipe with a sealing property only by tightening the fastening band.

The construction of the above pipe joint will be described below. First, in the factory, the packing 2 is attached to the joint body 1 in advance, the outer periphery of the packing 2 is surrounded by the band member 31, and the bolts 4 are lightly tightened to perform temporary assembly. In this state, the packing 2 has an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pipe P to be connected, so that the pipe can be smoothly inserted. Then, at the connection site, the pipe P is inserted into the pipe receiving portion 11 so that the tip of the pipe comes into contact with the packing tongue portion 21,
When the bolt 4 of the bolt fastening portion is tightened, the fastening portion on the female screw side is tightened, the band 31 contracts in the radial direction, and the arm portion 23 and the body portion 24 of the packing are compressed. Therefore, the packing body portion 24 swells toward the inner diameter side to press and seal the outer periphery of the pipe P and hold the pipe. Further, since the packing arm portion 23 also bulges toward the inner diameter side, the outer wall side of the pipe receiving portion 11 can be pressure-bonded and sealed. As described above, the pipe is easy to insert, and since it is connected with a sealing property by simply tightening two bolts, the amount of work and work load at the site are greatly reduced.
