Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the electrocoating liquid from flowing on a rear fender surface and staining said portion during a drying process by forming a groove below a drip rail. CONSTITUTION:The electrocoating liquid 7 accumulated among a rear fender 2, roof panel 1, and drip rail 3 seeps out of a gap between the drip rails 3 and rear fender 1 jointed by spot welding, and it flows forward through a groove 4 as shown by an arrow then to the opening step where a rear door is fitted. The liquid aften dries up in the middle of flowing through the groove 4, but it does not appear on the rear fender surface, thus requiring no correction.

For example, the vehicle body structure of the above-mentioned parts that are subject to auto-obscurity in the past is as shown in Figure 2.The cross section taken along the line A-A in Figure 1 shows the rear fender - snow drip rail 3 is welded to the drip rail, and the roof panel 1 is welded to the drip rail.A step 5 is provided below the drip rail 8 to form a recess for the spot gun, but this is due to 1. Once the escape of the spot gun was secured, all that was left to do was to consider the ease of manufacturing in the pressing process, so it was formed parallel to the horizontal plane or with the outer side of the car body lowered.

However, with such conventional car body structures, when applying electrodeposition coating to the car body, the entire car body is immersed in an electrodeposition liquid, and after treatment, it is pulled up and dried. As shown, the electrodeposited liquid 7 is applied between the rear fender 2 and the roof panel l&rfi drip rail 3.
This invention oozes out from between the spot welding points and flows along the rear fender surface, creating uneven coating there and requiring rework. This was done by focusing on the conventional problems, and the rear fender was removed during the drying process after electrodeposition coating.
In order to prevent the electrodeposited liquid from flowing over the surface and contaminating it, the drip rail has grooves that extend almost parallel to the bottom of the drip rail on the rear fender.
The electrodeposition liquid is transmitted through this area and flows to the opening step where the rear door and back door of the electric body are installed, that is, the place where it is hidden and cannot be stuttered from the outside after the door is installed.Hereinafter, this invention is made. will be explained based on the drawings.

This stepped portion 5 forms a groove 4, and this groove 4 extends at a position t equivalent to the rear end of the drip rail, as shown in FIG.
The rear end of the groove 4 is closed with solder, and the front end continues to the opening step where the rear door is attached.

There are black spots leaking from the gap between the drip rail 3 and the rear fender 1, which are connected by four joints.
It travels forward through the groove 4 as shown by the arrow shown in Figure IIIE4, and flows to the opening step where the rear door is attached. Although it may dry while flowing through this groove 4, it does not dry out on the fender surface, so there is no need to repair it. Figures 5 and 6 show other embodiments.

This example is for a vehicle that has a drip rail 3 integrated with lII/Ik, a molded roof panel 1 that is directly spotted on the rear fender 2, and has a back door.
A groove 4 is formed in the slider fender below the drip rail. The groove 4 continues directly to the opening step where the back door is attached. The drip rail 3 is hidden by a molding after painting. In this case as well, the electrodeposition liquid flows through the groove 4 as shown in Figure 6. As shown by the arrow, it flows toward the opening step where the rear door and back door are installed.

As explained above, according to the present invention, since a hill groove is provided below the drip rail of the rear fender and parallel to the drip rail, the electrodepositing liquid will not leak out during the drying process. Since the paint does not flow along the fender surface, the fender surface is not contaminated and there is no need to touch up uneven coating, resulting in improved productivity.

In addition to the above-mentioned common effects, each embodiment has grooves formed in the press process so as not to be inverse to the press direction, so there is no need to add a new press process, so productivity in the conventional press process can be improved. It will not deteriorate.
