Abstract

PURPOSE:To give the advantages in terms of space and effectively cool a muffler by feeding forced cooling air for an engine around the muffler via a guide. CONSTITUTION:Cooling air flows around a cylinder block or so of an engine to cool it, is forcibly fed rearward from the outlet 17b of a guide member 17, guided rearward through a passage 23 which is formed around the periphery of a muffler 20 and then discharged to the rear side. The muffler 20 is forced to be cooled by the lengthwise flow of the forced cooling air inside the passage 23. Since separated from the ambient air by the longitudinal piece 21a and the lateral piece 21b of a partition wall 21, the cooling air will not contact an air cleaner, a carburetor and so on to efficiently cool the muffler 20 only while hot air by the muffler 20 will not contact them and its radiant heat is cut off by the partition wall 21.

Therefore, equipment such as the muffler and air cleaner are separated, and a space is created to take in outside air for cooling. However, this makes it difficult to arrange the equipment around the engine in a compact and advantageous space layout. It is necessary to provide a large space between the muffler and the equipment ζ, and the outer shape of the cover etc. becomes larger, the outer shape of the vehicle becomes larger, and the weight also becomes larger. Improvements are desired in order to make the vehicle smaller and lighter.

The present invention has been made to improve the above-mentioned problems. The main purpose of the present invention is to provide a muffler air cooling guide member so that the flow of air continues downstream of the cooling air guide member for forced air cooling of the engine. To provide a muffler cooling device for a vehicle, which allows forced cooling air to flow around a muffler via a guide member, thereby effectively cooling the muffler, and which is advantageous in terms of space and can be designed without enlarging the space. It is on offer.

Next, the function and effect will be described. The cooling fan 19 is rotationally driven by the drive of the multi-rank shaft 10a of the engine 10, and the outside air is taken into the shroud 17 from the intake port 18 by the rotation of the cooling fan 19. The taken-in cooling air flows around the cylinder block of the engine 10 and cools it, and the cooling air is forcibly sent rearward from the outlet portion 17b and passes through the passage 23 formed around the muffler 20. The muffler 20 is forced to be cooled by the flow in the front-rear direction in the forced cooling air passage 23. Since the cooling air is separated from the surrounding area by the side pieces 21a and 21b of the partition plate 21, it does not come into contact with the air cleaner, vaporizer, etc.
Only the muffler 20 is efficiently and effectively cooled, the hot air warmed by the muffler 20 does not touch them, and the radiant heat of the muffler 20 is blocked by the partition plate 21.

In this way, the muffler 20 is efficiently and effectively cooled by covering its surroundings with the cover 16 and using the forced cooling air of the engine, thereby preventing peripheral equipment from the thermal influence of the muffler. Because it performs forced cooling, peripheral equipment and the muffler can be brought close together, which is advantageous in terms of space, allowing for a compact external shape and effective use of space.
In addition to being able to centralize the engine, muffler, and peripheral equipment, the structure is simple and only one forced cooling means is required.
