Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit sufficient cooling in accordance with the difference in the diameters of pipes by forming the surfaces of water cooling boxes facing the pipe to circular conical conical surfaces, and providing plural adjusting members for pipe diameters having circular surfaces on the outer side between the water cooling boxes and the outside surface of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:Water cooling boxes 11a, 11b are provided between welding heads 1a, 1b and a pipe 14. The boxes 11a, 11b are made into such a shape obtained by bisecting a cylindrical body, and the surfaces 13a, 13b facing the pipe 14 are made into circular conical surfaces. Adjusting members 15a, 15b for pipe diameters are inserted between the inside surfaces of the boxes 11a, 11b and the outside surface of the pipe 14, and the outside surfaces thereof are made into a circular conical surfaces meeting the surfaces 13a, 13b of the boxes 11a, 11b. The members 15a, 15b are driven into the spaces between the above-mentioned surfaces and are brought into tight contact with the pipe 14, whereby the errors in the outside diameter of the pipe 14 are absorbed and the pipe is cooled sufficiently. Steel materials, aluminum materials or copper materials having good heat conductivity are preferably used for the members 15a, 15b.
