PURPOSE:To perform good-quality finish processing on curvatures of a work by holding the grinding wheel always in parallel with the undersurface of grinding head through its inclination in compliance with any occurrence of grinding wheel's inclination and thereby assuring that the grinding wheel contacts curvatures of the work evenly. CONSTITUTION:Grinding wheel 4 at the undersurface of the grinding head 8 is put in contact with a curvature (b) of the oversurface of a work (a) to be ground, and is given reciprocative motion to the right and left by a rotary tool 1 with the aid of a grinder holder 5 and a slider 3. Being provided with feeds, the grinding wheel 4 inclines to the left or right in compliance with bend of the curvature (b). The inclination is sensed by a couple of servo valves 15 on the right and left to produce a motion in compliance with the motion of a pair of pistons 13 on the right and left, and the grinding head 8 is given the corresponding rightwise or leftwise inclination to follow automatically.
