Abstract

PURPOSE:To control deviation from a tolerance of the thickness, at the tip part of a material to be rolled, to be minimum, by correcting a lock-on value basing on the deviation between a measured thickness value in the exit at the lock-on time and a target value. CONSTITUTION:When a lock-on is completed, an output of a speed detector 14 connected to rolls 1 is taken into a distance meter 15 to start a counting of the time required until a rolling part of a material 2 reaches a thickness gauge 6 located at the exit side. The gauge 6 at the exit side detects a deviated value of an actual measured value from a target value of a material 2' to output it to a storing circuit 7. The circuit 7 stores the deviated value at the time when the meter 15 detects that the rolling part of the material 2 at the lock-on time reaches the gauge 6. Accordingly at this point of time, the deviated value is inputted to an amplifier 12 through a counter 8 to correct the lock-on value so as to make the deviated value zero. When the lock-on value is corrected, the meter 15 is reset to start the measuring again and to repeat said action after correcting the lock-on value.
