Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect the ballast tank from freezing by providing a bubbled water feed pipe and a branch pipe having a plurality of downwards directed jet ports in the ballast tank of frozen sea vessel then jetting the bubbled water and agitating the surface of the water. CONSTITUTION:A pipe 6 for feeding water from the top wall 1a and a horizontal branch 8 having a plurality of jet ports 7 opening downward against the surface 3a of water 3 in the tank 1 are provided in the ballast tank 1. The sea water sucked by a pump 9 is fed through a delivery pipe 10 to said pipe 6 then jetted through a jet port 7 of the branch 8 toward the surface 3a of water in the tank 1. Consequently the surface 3a of water 3 is agitated continuously to protect the tank 1 from freezing.
