状態に応じて切換わるバルブを設け、排気流量が少ない
運転領域では排気をUターン型拡張室を含む共鳴型消音
要素を経て出口管に排出し、排気流量が多い運転領域で
は排気を直接出口管に排出するように前記バルブを切換
えるように構成してなる自動車用エンジンのメインマフ
ラ。A valve is installed in the exhaust passage connecting the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe that switches depending on the engine operating condition, and in operating regions where the exhaust flow rate is low, exhaust gas is discharged to the outlet pipe through a resonant silencing element that includes a U-turn expansion chamber. The main muffler for an automobile engine is configured to switch the valve so as to discharge exhaust gas directly to an outlet pipe in an operating range where the exhaust flow rate is large.
