Abstract

PURPOSE:To have replacement of tools on spindles one after another using a single ATC by rotating a magazine means and a transport arm means simultaneously and by indexing with the transport arm means directed toward the axis of the intended spindle. CONSTITUTION:When a tool replacement command is given, the spindle head 5 rises up to the ATC initial position and the indexing means 4 operates to allow the transport arm 13 to head in the direction of spindle 6. Then the transport arm 13 advances to grasp the tool fitted on the spindle 6 with its grip 12 for the purpose of inserting the tool in the pocket at the replacement position 10. Thereafter the indexing device of the magazine means 2 operates to index the pot 11 housing the specified tool into the replacement position 10. Then the transport arm 13 grasps the tool with its grip 12 to carry it just under the spindle 6.
