A detection circuit that detects the charging voltage of the main capacitor in a flash device that can be attached to a camera where the exposure mode is automatically switched to natural light photography mode or flash photography mode by changing the electrical signal output in response to the release operation. When the detection circuit detects the completion of charging of the main capacitor, the first state is switched to the second state, and the exposure mode of the camera is switched from the natural light photography mode to the flash photography mode via the electric signal.
