The intake unit has a built-in fan and takes in air, and a heater unit that has a built-in heater core and heats all or part of the air taken in from the intake unit, performs air conditioning, and distributes the conditioned air. In the automotive air conditioner, a detour air path is formed that curves around the heater core installed approximately in the center of the heater unit, and the detour air path is connected to a ventilation chamber behind the hot air outlet of the heater core. Default ducts are formed adjacent to each other on both sides of the air distribution chamber, and the area adjacent to the air distribution room is provided with a structure that prevents the cold air from the detour air path from flowing directly into the airflow duct.
