This is an alkaline battery in which a cylindrical separator is filled with a gel negative electrode consisting of frozen zinc powder, an alkaline electrolyte, and a thickener for thickening the electrolyte, and a current collector is inserted into this gel negative electrode. At the boundary between the gel negative electrode and the space in the separator, a flange paper made of paper or plastic plate, etc., with a through hole for inserting a current collector is interposed, and the flange paper is fixed to the current collector.
