Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a continuous hardening device for steel plates of water storage tank type which can harden steel plates of various wall thicknesses efficiently, by providing expandable sealing members in the joining parts of upper and lower divided bodies of a water storage tank bordering at the plane where the steel plate to be hardened travels, and making the size of the openings of the water storage tank changeable in accordance with the thickness of the steel plate to be hardened. CONSTITUTION:A water storage tank 10' of the above-descrived hardening device is divided to upper and lower parts by bordering at the plane P where the steel plate to be hardened travels. The spacing between the upper and lower divided bodies 10'a and 10'b is made changeable with a vertically moving device 100. Sealing members 102 are disposed between both. Each of the members 102 is constituted of a sealing member body 104 having a U shape in section, and upper, lower plates 106, 108 which sandwich the same and are respectively movable upward and downward.
