Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable power supply to nonfailed section or all the sections, even for an emergency such as open cable or failue in power supply for one terminal station, by providing a switch connecting the power supply line to a power supply return path at an intermediate station. CONSTITUTION:A submarine relay system consists of terminal stations 1, 2 providing a power supply, and intermediate stations 3 and submarine relay transmission line 6 without the power supply, and the intermediate station 3 is provided with folding switch 5 to connect the power supply to a power supply return path (ground) 4. Further, the switch 5 is opened and power supply 1 is made from the terminal stations 1, 2 as shown in Figure and if the cable is disconnected, a switch 5 is closed at intermediate stations at both ends of the failed section and power is supplied by excluding the failed section. Further, power is supplied from both ends by closing the switches of the intermediate stations only, and when the power supply of one terminal station is in failure, the switches of the said intermediate stations are opened and the entire sections can be supplied for the power from other one-terminal station.
