Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the diameter of an electrostatic lens by forming the electron beam pass hole section for forming an electron lens such that the diameters at the tubular section are different at both open hole ends in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:Two electrodes 20, 20a made of three electron beam pass hole sections 31-33 and 31a-33a are faced then potential difference is provided to form an electron lens. The pass-hole sections 31-33 is constructed with a tubular section 34 having a large open end 34a at the facing side of the electrodes, where said tubular section 34 is formed with a tubular section 36 having a conical section 35 reducing toward the other open end and a small open end 34b. Since the inverted V-shape cross-section is formed between the pass-hole sections 31 and 33, 31 and 32 to increase the average diameter of the pass-hole sections 31-33, the diameter of the electrostatic lens can be enlarged resulting in the improvement of the spherical aberration.
