CONSTITUTION:A magnetic drum 8 has, e.g., 8 tracks and one message is recorded to each track. A magnetic head is of conventional 2-channel head, and when message playback information MSS is inputted to a control circuit 22, a start signal is applied to a solenoid drive circuit 16 and motor drive circuit 21 to contact the head with a desired track by means of a comparison circuit 18, solenoid selection circuit 13, head switching section 12 and position detection section 17, and the motor drive circuit 21 starts a motor 11 with a drive signal to rotate the magnetic drum 10. The 2-channel head reproduces a message from two tracks, but the message from either one of the tracks is amplified through a head selection circuit 13 at a playback circuit 14, to drive a speaker 15 and reproduce the desired message quickly.
