Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the frequency response of a pilot valve for a direct-acting servovalve and heighten its stability in quick action, by setting the diameter of the spool of the pilot valve, the dias of the spool of a main valve and the pressure reception area of the main valve at appropriate values, respectively.
CONSTITUTION: The parameters most important to quickly and stably drive the spool 14 of a main valve 2 are the pressure reception area S of the main valve, and the diameters (d), D of the spools of a pilot valve 1 and the main valve. These parameters can be changed into a dimensionless parameter α=dD/S. To enable the quick response of the main valve 2, a dimensionless response number equal to the quotient fM/fP of the division of the response of the main valve 2 by that of the pilot valve 1 needs to be 0.3 or more. The value of the dimensionless parameter α is determined so as to satisfy said condition of the dimensionless response number. To ensure the stability of the quick response of the main valve 2, the value of the dimensionless parameter α needs to be 0.7 or less.
