CONSTITUTION:When a start command is given, an advancing flip-flop FF1 is set, an electromagnetic clutch 24 is operated, a motor 21 is driven forward, and a scanner advances and runs in the sub-scanning direction. At the same time, a line synchronizing signal SYNC is sent to a counter 27, is counted, and when its counting contents coincide with contents which have been set in advance by an initial terminal setting device 25, a retrogressing FF2 is set, the advancing FF1 is reset, the motor 21 is driven in revese, and the scanner executes the return operation. The return operation of the scanner is also controlled by the fact that the contents which have been set in advance are compared with the contents of the counter 27 by an end terminal setting device 26.
