Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the loss of the power amplifying element of the power amplifier of the SEPP system and to improve the power utilizing rate, by generating a 2n-fold voltage of a prescribed voltage by the switching operation of an input signal and supplying this generated voltage to the power amplifying element.
CONSTITUTION: An input signal voltage Ei is inputted to a power amplifier 1 to drive a load Rl from the common connection point between emitters of power transistors (TR) Q1 and Q2 of the single end push-pull system. In a double voltage generating circuit 2, an output signal voltage E0 of the amplifier 1 is applied to the base common connection point of switching TRs Q3 and Q4 through a resistance R1, and a voltage V is generated through a diode D1 if the voltage E0 is lower than a prescribed threshold, and a voltage 2V is generated if the voltage E0 exceeds the threshold. A double voltage generating circuit 3 generates voltages -V and -2V similarly through a D2. Thus, voltages applied to collectors of TRs Q1 and Q2 are increased only when the output amplitude is large, thus reducing the collector loss and improving the power utilizing rate.
