Abstract

PURPOSE:To cut off an optical path and to directly turn on and off the transfer of a light by interrupting the optical path by a mechanical or electrical displacement from the outside. CONSTITUTION:In an external housing 4 filled with inert gas or a transparent liquid and sealed, linear or plate-like optical leads 1, 2 made of glass, etc. are inserted from both the sides and are made to adhere tightly, so that a light can be transferred to each other at the ends to which both the leads are opposed. The lead 2 is flexible and a magnetic substance 3 is vapor-deposited or applied on its outside circumference. Accordingly, when a position of a driving magnet is changed against a bias magnet 5, the lead 2 is attracted by the bias magnet 5 and is bent upward, therefore, the transfer of a light is cut off. Between the leads 1, 2, a flexible magnetic substance shutter 7 can be also provided. Also, it is possible to operate electrostatic attraction force between the first flexible electrode 8 and the second electrode 9 which serve as a shutter.
