Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a seamless pipe efficiently without rolling irregularities by providing carriers to a pair of driving and revolving shafts, mounting the revolving shafts of plural rolling rolls to these and subjecting the rolling rolls to planetary driving. CONSTITUTION:Driving gears 14 are fixed to a pair of driving and revolving shafts 12, and carriers 16 are secured to the shafts 12. The revolving shafts 19 of plural rolls 15 are monted to the carriers 16. Planetary gears 20 are secured to the end parts of the shafts 19, and are meshed with the sun gears fixed to the shafts 12. A base pipe 17 inserted with a core bar 22 is pushed into between the rolls 15, and the shafts 12 revolve to give prescribed rates of feed and revolutions to the pipe 17 while it is not rolled. When the next rolls 15 made planetary motion and start rolling, the waveforms created on the pipe surface are removed by the calibers formed on the rolls 15, and the surface of a seamless steel pipe 23 is finished uniformly without irregularities.
