Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a catalytic body of high mechanical strength and wide specific surface areas by using molybdenum oxide for a binder and a metal-made base material for a core material in producing a titanium oxide type fired body. CONSTITUTION:Titanium oxide treated in an atmosphere of molybdenum oxide as a binder is kneaded with a small amt. of water, after which the mixture is molded and fired, whereby a sintered body wherein the active parts are coated with molybdenum is obtained. This is stuck around the core material consisting of a base material made of metal such as wire screen, whereby the catalytic body is obtd. In this way, the catalytic body having high mechanical strength, and wide specific surface areas is produced.
