Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled bag operable aseptically, by incorporating glucose with an electrolyte having elements in amounts required by a patient subjected to the complete nutrient transfusion therapy, adjusting the pH, filling the adjusted mixture in a plastic bag, and streilizing the mixture under heating.
CONSTITUTION: Glucose is incorporated with an electrolyte having elements of potassium, magnesium and phosphorus to give the following concentrations in the aquoues solution: 100W300g/l glucose, 20W60 millimoles/l potassium, 2W 8 millimoles/l magnesium and 6W10 millimoles/l phosphorus. A pharmacologically acceptable salt of an organic acid is then added thereto to make a pH in the range of 3.5W6.0 and give the aimed additive. The resultant additive is then field in a fiexible plastic bag in corformity with the regulation of the test method for plastic transfusion containers, and then sterilized under heating. The operation of mixing with an amino acid pharmaceutical filled in the similar plastic bag can be carried out aseptically due to no use of a pneumatic needle.
