Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the stress of a stud for jointing between a bracket arm supporting a bearing oil tank and the bearing oil tank as well as raise the reliability of the joint by improving the method of jointing between the bracket arm and the bearing oil tank in a thrust bearing device to be provided to a vertical shaft type rotary machine.
CONSTITUTION: In a thrust bearing device, a thrust bearing 1 and a guide bearing 2 are provided in common in a bearing oil tank 3a which is supported through a vibration-preventing bracket arm 6 extending radially. The bracket arm 6 and the bearing oil tank 3a are integrally clamped together with plural studs 12aW12c by a nut 13 in such a way as to provide a gap 15, as shown by 8, on the compressed side of the joint 11 between them. The length of the stud 12c on the tensed side of the joint 11 is made longer than those of the studs 12a and 12b, and thus the stud 12c is clamped through a washer 14 with a larger thickness. Thus, the tensile force on the tensed side of bending moment can be made smaller and the stress of the studs can also be reduced.
