CONSTITUTION:A terminal controller TC(I) in a terminal equipment is connected to successively connected I/O devices 31-34 through a switch 2' normally to perform the control operation, and the controller TC(I) is provided with a frequency dividing circuit 11 which indicates the line speed, a setting part 12 which sets the division ratio of the circuit 11, and a driver 13 for transmission of the line speed designating signal besides a modulating circuit and a demodulating circuit which generate line control signals. When the controller TC(I) becomes faulty, the switch 2' is switched to the B side and is connected to an adapter 4' and is controlled by a remote terminal controller TC(II), and line speed signals are automatically designated and set to I/O devices 31-34 from a driver 16 of the adapter 4'.
