Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the molten metal flow of a cast rotor without loss of slot constant by chamfering the corners of the slit communicating with the slots of double squirrel cage type conductor and determining the trimming size within the specific range calculated from the widths of the slot and the slit. CONSTITUTION:Chamfers R1 and R2 are formed at the upper and lower corners 2', 2''' of an upper slot 3 and a slit 2''' communicating with a lower slot 1 of a cast rotor forming a double squirrel cage type conductor of an aluminum casting. The chamfers are so determined in size as to be at the upper end at the maximum (B- W)2 and at the minimum W/2 and at the lower end at the maximum (B'-)/2 and at the minimum W/2, where the upper and lower slot widths are represented by B, B' and the width of the slit is represented by W, nd that the chamber of the lower end is larger than the chamber of the upper end. Thus, the molten metal flow can be improved at aluminum casting time without affecting adverse influence to the slot constant.
