Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the oxidation of the inside surface of an austenite stainless steel pipe high-temp. steam by subjecting said steel pipe to a solution heat treatment under specific conditions then cold working the inside surface of the pipe and further applying a solution heat treatment thereto under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:An austenite stainless steel pipe is subjected to the 1st solution heat treatment at such a temp. region at which crystal grain sizes go to <=7 ASTM grain size number, for example, in the case of SUS347HTB, at about 1,160-1,220 deg.C, whereby the crystal grain sizes of the steel pipe are controlled to the grain sizes necessary to obtain a high-temp. strength. Thence, cold working is applied on the inside surface of the pipe, after which the steel pipe is subjected to the 2nd solution heat treatment at such a temp. region lower than the temp. of the solution heat treatment and at which the ASTM grain size number goes to >=7, for example, at about 1,050-1,160 deg.C, whereby only the inside surface layer of the steel pipe is controlled to the fine grains necessary for steam oxidation resistance. Here, the holding times in the temp. regions of the 1st and 2nd solution heat treatments are set at about 10-30min.
