Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare pyrogallol, in high selectivity, by the dehydrogenation of 1,2,3-cyclohexanetriol using a solid catalyst having stable activity and obtained by supporting Pd and Te on activated charcoal, followed by oxidation and reduction.
CONSTITUTION: Pyrogallol is prepared by the catalytic dehydrogenation of 1,2,3- cyclohexanetriol in an inert gas stream, in the presence of a solid catalyst prepared by supporting a palladium compound and a tellurium compound (e.g. palladium chloride, telluric acid, etc.) on activated charcoal, reducing, oxidizing in an O2-contg. gas, and again reducing the composition. The catalyst pref. contains additionally 1W10wt% alkali metal compound supported on the carrier.
