Abstract

PURPOSE: To extend the life of a crucible which melts a base alloy by heating and shorten the time for furance building processes by forming said crucible into double construction in a producing device for alloy sheets by a molten metal quenching system.
CONSTITUTION: A material of high thermal strength and small thermal expansion, for example, zirconium base, is used for the crucible, and refractory wool is packed in the space between the inside crucible and the outside crucible, whereby stretchability is given. Arrangement is so made that the direct influencing of the expansion force of the inside crucible upon the outside crucible is obviated. The spacing in the side parts of the inside crucible and the outside crucible is also so arranged as to obviate the influencing of the thermal expansion of the inside crucible upon the outside crucible simply by using the upper part for the purpose of steady rest and making the intermediate part vacant. Then, the life of the crucibles is equivalent to that in the case of conventional furnace building methods. It is possible to reduce the time for the furnace building process by executing said process by the outside preparatory plan alone.
