Abstract

PURPOSE:To wash a polyester filter speedily and efficiently by using a mixed solution of glycol and nitric acid. CONSTITUTION:A filter used for removing foreign matter containied in a molten polyester in an arbitrary step of production of the molten polyester and/or a step of molding the polyester in its molten state is washed by using a mixed solution which contains nitric acid such as concentrated nitric acid or the like concentration of at least 1wt% based on a glycol such as triethylene glycol. Ideally, the washing should be conducted at 150-300 deg.C for a minimum of 1hr. When the filter is heavily contaminated, the washing may be repeated. Accordingly, the filter can be washed speadily and efficiently.
