PURPOSE:To contrive improvement of reliability for the detection of local over- heating of a generator by a method wherein the existing read-out value is compared with the estimated recorder reading value sent from the flowing quantity measuring and correcting device. CONSTITUTION:The quantity of flow and the recorder read-out value are arithmetically operated from the flowing quantity of cooling gas in the machine which was measured by a flowmeter 2 using a correcting device 7, and the recorder reading value under normal condition is estimated. Then, this estimated recorder leading value is compared with the actually read-out value of the recorder 6, and when there is a difference exceeding the prescribed value, an alarm signal is sent to an alarm pilot lamp. Through these procedures, the turning out of an alarm signal from the monitoring device when no heating is existed inside the generator can be prevented by changing the pressure of the cooling gas in the machine.
