PURPOSE:To avoid the incapability of retrieval caused by the simple misreading, by carrying out a conversion of the key word with use of a conversion table and then giving the retrieval again in case no equivalent exists to the supplied KANA (Japanese syllabary) key word. CONSTITUTION:In case no coincidence is obtained between the key word read out of a memory 14 for storage of the retrieval information and the input keyword of a register 101, a central processor CPU10 performs a keyword converting process with use of each keyword conversion table within a memory 15. The CPU10 sets this new word to a register 102 and calculates the address of a retrieval information storing memory 14 by means of a register 103 and a randomizing device 17 then retrieve whether a record corresponding to the converted keyword exists.
