Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to exactly indicate the time of replacing a ribbon and a wheel, in a printer in which a hammer strikes a printing wheel, by detecting degree of fatigue of the wheel or the ribbon by counting the number of times of strikes of the hammer.
CONSTITUTION: First of all, a hammer striking frequency which requires replacement of a ribbon and a wheel is set to a ribbon-and-wheel replacement requiring printing frequency memories 16 and 17 and also to counting memories 18 and 19. And then, when printing data are put in and a printing section 15 is operated to make a printing hammer 22 start striking, a CPU 2 receives a hammer signal and starts subtracting 1 from ribbon replacement requiring printing frequency data of the counting memory 18, and when the value becomes below zero, a ribbon replacement indicating lamp 10 of an indicator 5 is turned on. Similarly, it tells the time when the wheel should be replaced. When a resetting switch 7 or 8 is turned on after completion of replacement of the ribbon R or the wheel 21, data of the ribbon or wheel replacement requiring printing frequency memory 16 or 17 is set to the counting memory 18 or 19.
