Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the ribbon replacement at a proper timing and simplify the operation by halting the printer at the printing stand-by state with the detection of the film ribbon end in the character impact serial printer.
CONSTITUTION: The input data is inputted into the input buffer memory 10, only while the control signal READY is generated from the printer sequence controller 11, and initiates a series of printing action sequence. When the ribbon end signal from the ribbon end detection sensor 7 is outputted to the printer sequence controller 11, the controller 11 actuates the printer until the printing sequence at that moment or the following sequence ends. Then, in order to refuse further input data, control signal to the external system controller is turned to BUSY. At the same time, the ribbon end signal is transmitted to the external system controller.
