Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate a maintenance of a pumping-up device body and to length its life, by a method wherein silt on the bottom of a narrow pit for a pumping plant for pimping-up water from a river is dredged by an underwater pump with a float whose buoyancy can be adjusted.
CONSTITUTION: A small-sized silt removing device is constituted such that a suction nozzle 14 is mounted below an underwater pump 11, and the lower end thereof forms a nozzle 15 to work as a suction port for silt. A float 16 has a buoyancy being enought to support weights of the underwater pump 11, a nozzle support rod 18, and a silt feed pipe 31, the center of the buoyancy is positioned at an upper part of the center of gravity of the whole device, and the float 16 is formed in such a shape that an outer diameter is as small as possible. A water feed and drain port 17 is formed in the lower part of the flot 16, and an air pipe 21 is mounted at the upper part thereof. With an operating valve 20 actuated, an amount of pressure air fed from an air source 23 through an air feed pipe 22 is increased and decreased to facilitate the movement through the adjustment of the buoyancy to the extent that its own weight is lost or to utilize its own weight as an excavating force where necessary.
