Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of drooping of molten metal and lack of fusion effectively by changing the feed direction of a filler metal according to the change in a welding position, in TIG welding. CONSTITUTION:In performing TIG welding in a down-or approximate down- position, welding is executed while a filler metal 18 is fed toward the welding part by a feeder 20b behind the advance direction of a welding torch 14. At this welding, drooping force is exerted to the molten metal 24 in a molten pool 22, but surface tension acts between the leading end of the metal 18 and the metal 24, thereby effecting the force of pulling up the metal 24 in the pool 22. Thereby, the drooping of the metal 24 is reduced and the lack of fusion is eliminated. In an up-or approximate up-position, the metal 18 is fed continously from the front of the advance direction of the torch 14, then the similar drooping of the metal 24 is suppressed and the lack of fusion is eliminated.
