Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a positive-displacement flowmeter of axial flow screw type permitting measurement of flow rate of fluid contg. extraneous materials without noise by inscribing a rotor of a single flighted screw with a stator consisting of an external screw of two flighted spirals and counting the number of revolutions of the rotor. CONSTITUTION:A rotor of a single flighted screw is engaged to a stator 2 consisting of a fixed two-flighted spiral external screw, thereby forming metering chambers C1-C3. When fluid flows from the direction of an arrow F, the rotor 1 is rotated by the thrust of fluid, the chambers C1-C3 are moved in the flow direction of the fluid, and the metering chamber C4 to be formed by the next stator 2 and the rotor 1 is formed successively. The total of the volumes of the respective metering chambers is determined by mechanical sizes, and therefore if the number of revolutions of the rotor 1 is determined, the flow rate of the fluid is measured.
