Abstract
PURPOSE: To miniaturize the whole of a fuel injection device by arranging an injection plunger by which the injection of the main fuel is controlled and a pilot plunger by which a pilot fuel is injected on the same axial line in the fuel injection device.
CONSTITUTION: In a cylinder 1, a follower 50 interlocked with an engine and a pressure-sending plunger 2 are provided in a mutually contact manner, and below them, a nozzle 6 through which a fuel is injected is provided. In the pressure- sending plunger 2, a pilot plunger 4 and an injection plunger 3 are concentrically provided in a vertically freely movable manner. Fuel is introduced through the second supply pump 62 and the first electromagnetic valve 64 from a pump 60 into the pilot pump chamber 12 and also through the second electromagnetic valve 63 into the injection pump chamber 11. And, at the start-up time, the fuel of the pilot pump chamber 12 is injected from the nozzle 6 prior to the main injection through the port 34, an annular groove 24 and pressure pathways 91 and 95 by means of the upward movement of the injection plunger 3.
