Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform elution preventive treatment of heavy metallic salts such as lead economically with less energy by adding acidic materials homogeneously to waste incineration treatment dusts thereby controlling the pH of the eluate in elution test to ≤12.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, iron sulfate, aluminum chloride, etc. is added homogeneously to waste incineration treatment dusts, to control the pH of the eluate by the elution testing method specified by the Public Notice No.13 of the Environmental Agency of the Japanese Government to ≤12, whereby the heavy metal elution preventive treatment is accomplished. It is preferable to control the pH of the elutate by the above-described elution test up to 9 in view of practicability. It is because the alkali in the dusts is neutralized, the pH of the elutate is lowered, the formation of lead ions and the like in a high pH region is prevented and the elution concn. of lead and the like is prevented that the elution of heavy metals such as lead can be prevented by the above-described means.
