Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the light weight structure of high bending strength at low cost, by putting the unfoamed, foamable synthetic resin sheet between a pair of the metal sheets and bonding them integrally under heat and pressure, thereafter releasing them from pressing force and foaming to the predetermined thickness.
CONSTITUTION: Basic resin (e.g. olefine type resin, polystyrene etc.) with foaming agent being added to it is, plasticized, extruded and formed into the unfoamed, foamable synthetic resin sheet according to the conventional method. Then, the foamable synthetic resin sheet applied with an adhesive is put between a pair of the metal sheets (e.g. steel sheet, aluminum sheet), then these are placed between the pressing plates and heated at the temperature over the decomposition temperature of foaming agent under the pressure enabling to suppress foaming and expansion of resin, the metal sheets and the resin sheet are bonded integrally. Then, the distance between the pressing plates is opened up to the predetermined distance corresponding to the thickness of the product. After the synthetic resin sheet is foamed and expanded, it is cooled and made into the structure.
